Having spent many years working in the porn business, I can find no better a book that displays both nonb-stop sex scenes and a disturbing plot. Let me write a passage from the book. "She entered the room ,the wind from the window making her fly. She approached the bed, where her Lesbian lover lay naked..." I can't go on as it would be illegal, but it is still a good read for a sick man. Of course, its not all lesbian sex, and positioning, but that does take up 98% of it. A good pornographic read.

Includes much information of male-specific maladies (e.g. prostate) and insights into lifestyles that contribute to problems. Many recipies for daily herbal health-maintanance are tried and true. Simply the best and my personal favorite.

This book is nescessity for the modern Herbalist.

Professor James Reason of Manchester University, is a giant in dealing with the human error. His famous book "HUMAN ERROR", first published in 1990, was an instant hit with the safety professionals and until today, remains an authoritative reference for anyone who wants to know more about human errors and human failings.

In 1997, Reason published yet another hit - "MANAGING THE RISKS OF ORGANIZATIONAL ACCIDENTS". This book, as Reason puts it, ... aimed at the "real people" and especially those whose daily business is to think about, and manage or regulate, the risk of hazardous technologies - like commercial aviation - our business.

Yes, this book is meant for the bosses, the Chairman, the CEO, all the Presidents, Executive Vice Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents and last but not least --- (if you are in the air transport business) --- the pilots in the flight deck - as the "Sharp End Operators" and the "Last Line Defenders" to fight against of all the possible latent errors and threats made long before we step into the flightdeck, but expect us to put a stop to any possible mishap from happening when the situation arises!

Professor Reason uses his now popular "Swiss Cheese" Model of Defence to explain the nature of those "latent threats" or "latent errors" lurking in our air transport organization (and others), waiting to spring on us when the time and opportunity present themselves.

Reason argues that highly hazardous technological industry like the air transport industry, (nuclear and chemical plants as well etc.) are usually protected with layers of strong defences..

Let me try to illustrate; let's say we have a lot of hazards to contain on the left hand side of this page, and the losses (if the hazards are not contained and causing accidents) are on the right hand side of this same page. Our defences are like layers of steel plates erected between the hazards and losses to protect them from meeting (liken to be like a light beam shining through).

In real life, these steel plates are both "hardware" and "software". Hardware are, for example better designed modern airplanes with many safety features incorporated from experiences gained over the last few decades of air transport operations, better human-engineering to prevent human factor related errors from being committed. Having better equipment to forecast weather better, better equipment to detect and forewarn the pilots of impending collision with other traffic or terrain etc.

Software, on the other hand, are people themselves, plus philosophy, policy and enforcing procedures to promote safety, implementing safety rules and regulations and practices to guard against accidents from happening.

Well and good, to be fair, all these work pretty well most of the time. That's why you don't get to see many air disasters, nuclear plant accidents, or offshore oil rig disasters very often. Reason, however, argues these "steel plates" are not hole-proof, there are in fact, full of "holes", caused by latent threats and errors, such as company pressure, tight schedules, awkward rules that are hard to follow, long working hours, inadequate rest, lack of on-going trainings, or lack of safety awareness practices, impractical fuel policy etc.

These "holes" in the steel plates expand or shrink depend on prevailing conditions. The holes are "latent threats and errors" built-in to the system, they alone will not cause accidents (not all the plates) but when coupled with some "active failures", (the remaining plates) such as human errors, lapses or slips in the system, in the right place and at the right time, the imaginary light from the left hand "hazards" side, will shine through these porous steel plates and light up the right hand "losses" side, an accident happens! But when it does happen, it is certainly a "Big Bang" headline news, which is usually coupled with heavy human death toll and colossal hardware losses.

Professor Reason deals specifically with the latent threats rather than the active failures, because, as in the Swiss Cheese Model, all you need to do is to make one of the steel plate hole-proof and the error chain is broken, thus preventing a disaster from occurring. Simple as that. Active failures will be dealt with elsewhere..

To sum up, this book covers hazards, defences and losses in all the hazardous high technology industries, it also points out reasons why sometimes these defences are penetrated and defeated. In fact Reason says some of these defences are themselves dangerous! He also talks of the human contribution to the breakdown in the defences, even maintenance, the very reason for maintenance is to ensure safety and reliability of the systems we built, itself can cause accidents if negligence seeps in. He offers practical guides to error management, and finally, how to engineer a safety culture to prevent "Big Bangs" from happening.

A highly recommended reference for those who take flight safety business seriously.

This book is a must for anyone who is interested in understanding the organizational factors involved in accidents. It presents a clear picture of what the basic issue is with safety. It helps significantly in the understanding of what must be done in order to manage safety appropriatley. It presents principles that are applicable to all type of industries. I think the fact that an effective book on safety can be written by a psychologist emphasises the role people play in the safety process.

A novice in this area, I found this book easy to read and very enlightening. The challenge for automation engineers, designers and safety professionals is not what needs to be done, but how to translate these concepts into your company's culture.

After purchasing the Manual of Prayers, I found my prayer life had greatly improved. I have been greatly blessed by it. It comes leather bound in 2 colors, black and burgundy. It was such a blessing fort me that I had to get one for a friend. It is good for those who have a hard time praying. It makes it easier to start a prayer or gives one ideas on how to pray. It is a wonderful book that is nothing short of priceless.

As a priest recently returned from Rome after two years of graduate study at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas (the Angelicum), who lived and prayed at the Pontifical North American College Casa Santa Maria, I can recommend no finer book of prayers for priests and lay Catholics.

The layout and format of this book was very easy to follow!

Kotler's Marketing for Hospitality and Tourism helps marketing beginners and people that are getting into the hospitality business. It demonstrates basic knowledge that can be applied to the business, great tool for working!

As a lecturer in South Africa I found the inclusion of so many examples from MacDonalds and other international franchises useful to explain the examples to the class. As usual anything the Kotler writes is easy to put across to my students entering the hospitality industry. Well done!

To keep it short, I was handed this book when I was 10yrs of age, by a father who worked in the herpetarium. Not only did it, and even now as an adult, shock me, it made me give nature a greater respect. An excellent read for naturilists and those curious to animal nature in the extreme.

So you thought the elephants down at the zoo were cute did ya? Ever know that in 1944 one zoo elephant ate its keeper! What about those harmless hippos they look cute in those cartoons but in Africa they're known as the most meanest animal on the continent. This book isn't for the PETA crowd and it is far from politically correct but it is a fascinating look at animals eating and attacking man! Turn about is fair play and with out our firearms and sometimes even with them we're still one of the slowest weakest members of the animal kingdom. Read and enjoy!!

James Clarke has a writing style that can hold the attention of even the most dicriminating of readers. I have recommended this book to many friends and without exception they have all come away with a certain amount of awe at the realization that, we as modern men, seem all to often to have forgetten: that we are simply protein to many animals, in many parts of the world today. Clarke gets away from the false and foolish notion that is propagated by many "bunny huggers" and "Disneyites" today. Namely, that wild animals are really just lovable furry critters that are waiting for someone to pet them. He is very, very objective and gives the facts on malevolent animal/human relations in a way that is not dry and bland the way many are presented nowdays. He does this by quoting many sources newspapers, naturalists, hunters, explorers and many official and medical records. Above all, I came away from this book with the feeling that I had been given the facts and allowed to makeup my own mind instead of someone making it up for me!! Oh, and read the book to find out what animal is the greatest Man-Killer of all time. You'll be suprised!

Almost 40 years ago Juan Quesada from the village of Mata Ortiz in Chihuahua singlehandedly revived Casa Grande style pottery. This book is a beautifully illustrated account of his success, along with the other artists of the village who learned from him. Becoming familiar with these artists should lay to rest the notion held by many Americans that Mexican imports are second class. These paper-thin pots are as beautiful as any you will ever see. This book has color photographs of many of the potters from Mata Ortiz as well as pictures of their pots. There is information on how the pots are made-- they are all built by hand from native materials, painted with brushes made from the artists' children's hair and fired over cow dung.

The book has a lot of interesting details-- for instance, when the Pope visited Mexico a few years ago, he was given three of these magnificent pots. Another fascinating tidbit is that one of every seven citizens of this village makes these pots. They have gone from doing manual labor to creating works of art.

Owning this book is the next best thing to owning a Mata Ortiz pot.

This is the best pottery book I have ever found! It is layed out in an informative, and beautiful manner. Not only is the pottery exquisite, but the photographs represent the pieces at their best. It is easy to understand, and gets one passionate about an art movement, that we can actually be a part of, in this twenty-first century. It is highly unsual to be living during a time when a new art movement is going on, and still striving for it's pinnacle. We see this with the unequalled workmanship of the Matiz Ortiz people in their Casas Grandes/Matiz Ortiz pottery. I really enjoyed getting to know each potter by name and photo, coupled with seeing their work, and feeling a part of their extended family. Juan Quesada, the founder of this artistic movement, is a highly spiritual individual, generous and gifted beyond belief. He is the reason that this wonderful pottery is being shown to the world. I am an artist that does pottery, and a retired teacher. I would recommend this book to all art teachers, and anyone who appreciates great art.

This book was my introduction to the world of the artisans of Mata Ortiz, Mexico, and their amazing ceramic creations. While the decorative motifs and other aspects of the pottery were familiar to me, I found that the photography, which I suspect was done with specialized "light painting" techniques, brought out the form, texture, and pattern of the pieces with wonderfully rich detail and nuance. The images were clearly created by a photographer who was very intent on rendering a physical, tactile sense of the objects she was recording. Coupled with other photographs of the artisans at work, and the surrounding Mexican landscape, the book is a compelling portrait of both the people who create the works of art and the art itself.

When I first read this book by James, I was preparing to write an essay on Melville and his "isolatoes." James gives ample evidence for establishing the reasons why some of the protagonists appear elusive, enigmatic, and, of course, reclusive. I found this text quite helpful in its explanations of why Melville portrayed his male characters the way he chose; perhaps James own exile for passport violations sets up the framework for presenting his theories on the characters he analyzes. The work is a fine read, although the socialist commentary remains controversial.

C.L.R. James's analysis of Moby Dick brings the book to life and makes it understandable for a 21st century audience. You'll read "Mariners, Renegades, and Castaways, and want to immediately run out and read Moby Dick and Melville's other classics. James argues that Melville used the novel to explore dramatic changes in the fabric of American culture including the rise of industrial capitalism, the international working class, and the increasingly savage character of political and industrial life and leadership.

C.L.R. James wrote this book while he was interned with the newest generation of "Mariners, Renegades, and Castaways" on Ellis Island awaiting deportation. James's fate--that of a foreigner who offers the finest existing interpretation of one of America's greatest books and is still deported--serves as a cautionary tale for our own times. James concludes, "What the writing of this book has taught the writer is the inseparability of great literature and of social life."

This book is more than a little bit of early Postcolonial writing. The intoduction by Donald Pease is new, and the last chapter - an autobiographical sketch and personal appeal by James - was omitted from a previous edition. In terms of literary criticism, this is what Pease has to say about James and his writing: "He was one of the few critics who emerged from the Third World in the 1950's and traveled throughout Britain and the United States generating what are now called post-colonial readings." The real value of this book however is in its brilliant reinterpretation of MOBY DICK.

Rather than see Ahab and Ishmael as representing respectively "totalitarian" and "American" cultural themes as critics in the 1950's saw it, James offers a vison focused on the Pequod and its crew. A view in which the MARINERS, RENEGADES & CASTAWAYS of the ship were at the mercy of their Captain. In James' interpretaion the Pequod is a factory ship and the crew are the workers. Ahab is no longer a mere sailor but is now illustrative of a "Captain of industry."

I agree with the reviewer from New Haven regarding the peculiar situation James found himself in. The established interpretation of a Cold War allegory was in keeping with the times in the 1950's. If James or Melville himself were writing today, the interpretation on offer here - rather than something to be persecuted for - would be considered far more plausible than the narrow and blinkered view of the 1950's mainstream critics.

This is how a deathlands novel should read like. Awesome all the way baby, YEAH!

I have been a devoted Deathlands fan since 1988. I have traveled to Pennsylvania to get his books. The last few books, seemed to be forced. James Axler appears to be bored with Ryan Cawdor and his friends. With Mars Arena he found new life. This book holds your interest from first page to the last. I am glad to see "Dean" again. Keep up the good work James, can't wait to read your next book Watersleep.

Axler wastes no time developing a fast paced storyline. From the onset the main charactors are pursued by one band of enemies after another. While attempting an escape from a bloodthirsty group of mutants, Ryan, J.B. and Mildred are captured by a Baron in search of ruthless killers. In a developing side plot, Ryan's son Dean is having problems of an adolescent at the Brody School. He and a classmate are caught peeping on an unsuspecting, older female classmate who sleeps in the nude. Dean and nine other classmates are soon after captured and transported to Las Vegas to participate in the "Game" held by seven local rivaling Barons. Dean and his group as well as Ryan and his group are pitted against each other in the game battling other teams, treacherous terrain, mutant beasts, sec guards and Barons in a fight to the death. Two very interesting side developments. One involving a re-entering space station the other involving new mental powers spawn to Ryan's partner, Kristy. This is one of the best in the Deathlands saga!

I found this to be a good high level view of the PM discipline, its concepts, and processes. The section on Risk Management provided a good overview. All chapters are "overview" level, but the book has a good reference section for further reading. I'd refer readers to Lewis' The Project Managers Desk Reference" for more detailed reading. I do find I refer to this book and am glad I added it to my library.

Very easy and fun reading. Hits all the right points that relate to project management. Examples are good, lots of creative ideas that I wasn't aware of and good reference to other books and material.

I would have liked to see more content on systems thinking and how they are applied in real life. Other than that, it is very un-common for me to read a book end to end. I enjoyed - and learned.

This is a excellent overview for General Management, Stakeholders, PMs and PM Team Members to used not only as an overview of Project Management, but as an advance guidance in the planning, scheduling and controlling methodology. Mr. Lewis's approach to Systems Thinking vice the linear thinking is well addressed. The Chapter on Managing Quality in Projects is excellent and stresses planning, customer needs, rework, and cost should be reviewed at all levels of the Enterprise from General Management to individuals striving to complete a project. I will place this book next to my copy his book, "The Project Manager's Desk Reference."
